PRIVATE CBT THERAPISTS IN LONDON
Expert Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on Harley Street, Tailored to You
If you are looking for an experienced CBT therapist in London, the Psyche Clinic offers private cognitive behavioural therapy in a professional and confidential setting at 10 Harley Street.
Our CBT therapists are fully accredited clinicians with specialist training in cognitive behavioural therapy across a range of presentations. Each holds recognised professional accreditation and has extensive experience working with adults across the NHS and private practice.
We are intentionally a small clinic. Every session is delivered by a senior, qualified clinician and never a trainee, ensuring consistency, depth of expertise, and a treatment approach built entirely around you.
WHAT IS COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)?
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a structured, evidence-based talking therapy that explores the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It is one of the most extensively researched psychological treatments available and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for a wide range of mental health conditions.
CBT works on the principle that the way we interpret situations influences how we feel and what we do. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, CBT helps individuals develop more balanced ways of thinking and more effective ways of responding to difficulty.
Treatment is typically time-limited and goal-focused, with sessions designed to build practical skills that extend well beyond the therapy room. Progress is collaborative. You and your therapist work together to understand your difficulties and develop strategies tailored to your specific circumstances.

OUR APPROACH
At the Psyche Clinic, our approach to CBT is grounded in clinical rigour, compassion, and genuine personalisation. We understand that beginning therapy can feel uncertain. Our environment is professional yet approachable, and our therapists work to ensure you feel comfortable and understood from your first session.
We take time to develop a thorough formulation of your difficulties before any therapeutic work begins. This means understanding how your current challenges have developed, what maintains them, and what a meaningful outcome looks like for you specifically.
Sessions are structured but flexible. Where relevant, we draw on complementary approaches alongside CBT, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema-based work, and trauma-informed techniques, to ensure your treatment is suited to your presentation rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.

PRIVATE CBT IN LONDON: WHAT TO EXPECT
Your first appointment at Psyche Clinic is an initial assessment conducted by your CBT therapist. This session typically lasts one hour and is designed to help us understand your difficulties in full before any treatment begins.
Your therapist will explore your current concerns in detail and take a thorough history, including:
-
The nature and duration of your current symptoms
-
How your difficulties developed and what appears to maintain them
-
Relevant personal, family, and medical history
-
Any previous treatment or therapy you have received
-
Your goals for therapy and what a meaningful outcome would look like
At the end of the assessment, your therapist will share their clinical formulation and outline a recommended treatment approach. All decisions are made collaboratively. You will understand the rationale for any recommendations and have the opportunity to ask questions before agreeing to a course of treatment.
Subsequent CBT sessions are typically 50 to 60 minutes in length. Most people complete a course of between 8 and 20 sessions, though this varies depending on the presentation and your individual progress.
