ABOUT LAUREN CALLAGHAN
With over 20 years of clinical experience, this seasoned Clinical Psychologist has dedicated their career to the field of psychology. Their professional journey includes work at world-renowned research centers in the UK, including the Centre of Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) and the Anxiety Disorders Unit (ADRU) at the Maudsley Hospital. Before specializing in the treatment of anxiety and obsessional problems, they spent several years working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). This dual experience has uniquely positioned them to work effectively with both young people and their families, as well as with adults.
They originally trained in New Zealand at the University of Otago and the University of Canterbury. Prior to becoming a Clinical Psychologist, they completed a Law Honours Degree (LLB Hons), Professional Studies in Law (PROFS), and were admitted to the New Zealand Bar as a Lawyer. While grateful for the opportunity to study law, their passion for psychology ultimately led them to change career paths.
Their academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology (BA), a Master’s Degree with Honours in Psychology (MA Hons), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PGDipClinPsych). In subsequent years, while working in the UK, they became an accredited Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and completed training in family therapy (Post Graduate Certificate in Systemic Therapy), which now complements their clinical practice—particularly when working with couples and families affected by anxiety and obsessional issues.
