EXECUTIVE COACHING WITH PAUL SAMPSON IN LONDON

Paul Sampson is an Executive Coach and trainee Integrative Psychotherapist working with executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, athletes and younger adults, including neurodivergent clients.

His approach combines executive coaching, psychology-informed practice and the experience of a 17-year career in elite professional and international sport.

Paul works with individuals who want to improve performance, confidence, leadership and their ability to navigate change. Coaching can provide a practical and individually adapted way of developing confidence, independence, structure and direction.

Whether you are carrying significant responsibility, facing an important decision, navigating a career transition, experiencing pressure or considering what comes next, executive coaching provides a confidential space to think more clearly and understand yourself better.

WHAT IS EXECUTIVE COACHING?

Executive coaching is a confidential, collaborative process designed to help people think more clearly, understand themselves better and make meaningful changes in their professional and personal lives.

People may seek executive coaching because they are:

  • Carrying significant responsibility

  • Facing an important decision or transition

  • Struggling with confidence or motivation

  • Experiencing pressure or burnout

  • Developing as a leader

  • Changing career or professional identity

  • Building a business or new project

  • Successful externally but questioning what comes next

Paul's approach looks beyond productivity alone. Coaching considers the person behind the role, including the patterns, beliefs and behaviours that influence performance, relationships and decision-making.

The work is adapted to the individual rather than following a fixed programme. Paul combines challenge with reflection, helping people develop their own ability to think and make decisions rather than creating dependence on the coach for answers.

HUMAN PERFORMANCE, SPORT & LEADERSHIP

Human Performance

High performance is not simply about pushing harder. Sustainable performance requires self-awareness, adaptability, recovery, emotional regulation and the ability to respond constructively when circumstances change. Paul works with people operating in demanding environments to explore: - Performance under pressure - Confidence and self-belief - Resilience - Motivation and discipline - Identity - Recovery from setbacks - Transitions - Difficult conversations - Leadership and team dynamics - Sustainable high performance The focus is on understanding what supports effective performance while recognising the wider personal and psychological factors that influence how someone responds to pressure, change and setbacks.

Sport

Paul brings first-hand experience from a 17-year professional rugby career, including representing England. Elite sport exposed him to the realities of preparation, competition, selection, injury, recovery, changing identity and performing while under scrutiny. Today, he uses that experience alongside his coaching and psychotherapy training to support current and former athletes as people, rather than viewing performance in isolation. This can be particularly valuable during: - Injury - Loss of form - Setbacks - Changes in confidence - Retirement from professional sport - Career transition - Changing sporting identity - Questions about life beyond achievement

Leadership Coaching

Leadership coaching provides a confidential environment in which individuals can examine not only what they do, but how they affect the people around them. Areas may include: - Executive presence - Decision-making - Communication - Emotional intelligence - Managing conflict - Leading through uncertainty - Delegation and responsibility - Confidence - Organisational relationships - Maintaining performance without sacrificing wellbeing Paul combines challenge with reflection, helping individuals develop their own understanding of how they lead and how they can respond more effectively to the demands of their role.

“We are really seeing the difference. He seems much more positive and is taking meaningful steps towards work, independence and engaging more fully with life. As parents, we have both commented on how well he is doing and how much of that progress has come from Paul’s sessions with him. We can’t thank Paul enough.”

ABOUT PAUL SAMPSON: From Elite Sport to Coaching

Executive Coach | Leadership | Human Performance | Sport

Paul Sampson spent 17 years as a professional rugby player and represented England before moving into coaching and psychological work.

Elite sport provided an early education in leadership, teams, resilience, preparation and performance under pressure. It also provided experience of the less visible aspects of high achievement, including injury, uncertainty, setbacks, identity and transition.

Following his playing career, Paul trained in Executive Coaching and has spent approximately a decade working with executives, entrepreneurs, athletes, professionals and private clients.

He is also completing postgraduate training in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

This combination allows Paul to work at the intersection of:

Performance + Psychology + Leadership

His coaching is practical and forward-focused, while remaining interested in the deeper patterns that sometimes prevent talented and successful people from moving forward.

Paul works independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team at Psyche Clinic.
