MILLY DEXTER
Therapist
Milly has completed her Counselling Psychology doctorate training at the University of Roehampton awaiting HCPC registration and practises under qualified clinical supervision.
Milly has worked across NHS, community and third-sector services, with clinical practice gained in specialist NHS psychotherapy, early intervention in psychosis, palliative care, neurorehabilitation and crisis settings. She has experience across trauma, including complex developmental and interpersonal trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem difficulties and persistent pain. She also has particular expertise are in life changes shape: identity and significant life transitions, grief and bereavement, including anticipatory and complex grief, and living with serious, chronic or life-limiting illness.
Milly works pluralistically, which means therapy is shaped collaboratively rather than delivered to a fixed protocol. She works with a range of evidence-based models, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and humanistic approaches, drawing on whichever combination best fits the person in front of her. At the heart of her practice is an understanding that each person responds differently to their difficulties, and that finding the most appropriate way of meeting your therapy goals is something you work out together.
Her approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity and collaboration, offering a safe and compassionate space to explore difficult emotions, make sense of long-standing patterns, and build resilience.
Alongside her clinical work, Milly designs and delivers psychological training and reflective practice for organisations, and provides clinical oversight for workplace mental health provision.
