Emma Johnson
Psychotherapist
Emma Johnson is a highly experienced Systemic Family Psychotherapist providing support to individuals, couples, parents and families. With over 20 years’ experience in NHS mental health and social care, she combines strong clinical expertise with a warm, empathetic approach, creating a safe and collaborative space for clients to explore challenges and improve relationships.
Emma works from a systemic and attachment-based perspective, understanding individuals within the context of their relationships, life experiences and cultural background. Her work focuses on strengthening communication, deepening emotional connection, resolving conflict, and helping clients process patterns shaped by family dynamics, trauma or loss.
She integrates a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s needs, including EMDR (with FLASH technique) for trauma and attachment-related difficulties, and DBT-informed strategies to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. Her systemic family therapy work supports healthier, more connected relationships, while her use of Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) offers practical tools for parents managing challenging behaviour.
