DR JAMES WOOLLEY
Consultant Psychiatrist
BSc MBBS MRCP MRCPsych FRCPsych
Dr. James Woolley is an award-winning Consultant Psychiatrist who believes that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. With two decades of experience at London’s leading hospitals (such as The Maudsley, Kings College, the Royal Brompton and the Royal Marsden), he specialises in supporting adults through mental health challenges—especially when they are complicated by physical illness including cancer.
What sets Dr. Woolley apart is his dual background. After qualifying in general medicine at Imperial College, he spent years specialising in psychiatry, pharmacotherapy (medication) and cognitive behavioural therapy. This culminated in a rare dual Fellowship of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Psychiatrists, a distinction that highlights his expertise in treating the overlap between physical and mental well-being.
Dr. Woolley provides comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions, including:
-
Anxiety and Depression
-
Bipolar Disorder and Psychosis
-
Burnout and Complex Health Interactions
He is particularly known for his work alongside oncology teams, helping patients manage the psychological toll of a medical diagnosis and treatment.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Woolley is a respected leader in the medical community. He has served as a Medical Director, a specialist advisor for commercial pilots, and a GMC Associate dedicated to supporting the mental health of other doctors. His approach is grounded in clinical excellence, but always delivered with the empathy and integration that complex health needs require.
